All you need to know about setting up and using SMS with Lucro

How does the SMS / Text feature work?

Lucro has the in-built ability to be able to send SMS / text to your customers and potential customers which is an excellent feature since it can significantly boost sales conversions since customers on average open 98% of SMS compared to 22% for emails.

SMS / Text Messaging is a Premium feature and therefore only accessible via one of our Paid Plans - see our Pricing Page for an itemised breakdown of our Plans.

Additionally, Lucro enables you have to have a two-way conversation with your customers via SMS with its ability to both send and receive SMS and the great thing is that all SMS messages both sent and received are all automatically recorded against the relevant customer so you have a full history of all correspondence, via SMS, email and phone.

Are SMS / text messages free to send in Lucro?

No, but you do get 50 free SMS credits when you register as a UK business with our exclusive partner The SMS Works.

In order to be able to send SMS / text messages in Lucro you need to purchase SMS credits on your account which you then topup whenever you need to. Our SMS provider is one of the most competitive in the UK with prices on average 33% cheaper than most other suppliers and the great thing is that they only charge for delivered messages, unlike the vast majority of the other providers.

The great news is that you get your first 50 SMS credits FREE once you setup your account with The SMS Works, so all you have to do is sign up with them and then enter your account details into the SMS API section of Lucro.

How much do SMS messages cost in Lucro?

The price you pay to send an SMS in Lucro varies dependant on the volume of pre-paid credits you purchase for your account. If you purchase the lowest volume, then you would be paying just 3.95 pence + VAT per UK SMS.

If you bulk buy SMS messages in significant volumes, then you can pay as low as 3.55 pence +VAT per UK SMS.

The minimum you can deposit for your SMS account is £10 + VAT which buys you approx. 253 SMS messages which do not expire and will sit on your account until you use them up. Additionally, The SMS Works also give you 50 Free SMS credits when you sign up with them, so there really is no reason not to start benefiting from SMS messaging today to see the massive difference it can make to your business.

Is there a monthly line rental charge for SMS facility?

If you are sending SMS only (known as “1-way SMS”) then there is NO fixed monthly rental charge at all and you will only pay for the SMS messages sent from the credits you deposit on your account with The SMS Works.

If you wish to both send and receive SMS messages (known as “2-way SMS”) then you need to pay a monthly line rental charge so you have your own dedicated “reply to” number. The cost for this line rental is £11.50 + VAT per month for a minimum 3 month period.

There are no contracts or costs incurred with Lucro for SMS as all monies are paid to our 3rd party provider The SMS Works.

Do my SMS credits expire or get lost?

No, don’t worry SMS credits never expire and always rollover from one month to the next until they get used up. This gives you the ability to start benefiting from SMS messaging to your customers and potential customers from as little as just £10 + VAT to buy your first batch of 250+ messages and use them whenever you want.

How do I setup my SMS / text account in Lucro

In order to use the SMS facility in Lucro you first need to register an account with our exclusive partner The SMS Works.

Visit their website at https://thesmsworks.co.uk/auth/signup/lucro50 to register and claim your first 50 free SMS credits for UK businesses. It is free to sign up and takes only couple of minutes to complete and be able to start sending out SMS messages.

Once you have signed up and created your account with The SMS Works and credited your account with some initial SMS messages, you then just need to enter your account settings into Lucro. You do this by going to the System Settings / API Settings menu where you are presented with all of the different APIs you are turn on / off.

As you toggle on the SMS API you will see where you need to enter your API Key and SMS Sender Number which are both detailed in you’re the SMS Works account. Once you’ve entered these 2 details simply click “Save Changes” and that’s up, you’re all set to start sending SMS messages.

Note in order to be able to also receive SMS messages you must pay for a “reply to” number to be added to your account with The SMS Works, which incurs a small monthly rental fee and also minimum 3 monthly term.

Can I send international SMS from Lucro?

Yes absolutely! Our exclusive SMS partner, The SMS Works enables you to send to almost any international country easily within Lucro!

Please note, the prices for sending international SMS are more expensive than UK SMS, but don’t worry, the relevant number of credits are just automatically debited from your SMS balance.

Do I get notified if a customer sends me an SMS?

Yes absolutely. When a customer replies to one of your SMS messages the User who sent the original SMS to the Customer is automatically sent an email notification. The email notification contains the Customer Name, the Lead ID (where applicable) and also the contents of the SMS message.

Note, if you are using the Lead functionality of Lucro, then all inbound SMS messages are automatically added to the active Customer Lead so you have a full trial of all Customer correspondence both inbound and outbound for total transparency.

Can customers reply to my SMS messages?

Yes so long as you have an active “reply to” number on your The SMS Works account. There is a monthly line rental charge of approx. £11.50 + Vat per month per “reply to” number which is payable to The SMS Works via your online account with them.

If you don’t have a “reply to” number on your account, customers will be unable to reply to your SMS messages as you will be using a shared mobile number which has the ability to send only, not receive as well.
